Q: Does my child need to know how to ice skate to register for LTPH?
A: Yes, every registrant needs to have basic ice skating skills as this is a learn to play hockey course, not learn to skate. Q: Does my child need special equipment?
A: Every participant needs hockey skates (not figure skates); shoulder pads; elbow pads; shin pads; helmet with face mask; ice hockey stick (we recommend straight – no curve – sticks for new players). Additional gear such as hockey pants and jersey are optional.

Q: Does DCYHA provide rental gear?
A: DCYHA provides rental gear on a first-come, first-serve basis. Skates are available at no additional charge at the skate rental counter at the Rec Center. Sticks are not available for rent.

Q: Who are the instructors for LTPH?
A: The coaches are all on staff with DCYHA and are USA Hockey Certified.

A: We accept kids age 4 through 15. Basic skating skills are required for all registrants.
